Service Opportunities

VISAS (Volunteers with International Students, Staff, and Scholars) is a free program that serves the international community at UVA. Through VISAS’ various programs, volunteers and international participants practice English together, meet new people, build meaningful relationships, and learn about other cultures. We invite English learners and English speakers to come join us now! The deadline to join VISAS is Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 11:59 PM!
  
 
Want to practice your English and meet new people? 

  1. At the top of the Volunteer Registration site (under Find your Category), click on the category for which you want to volunteer
  2. If you select “Anywhere You Need Me,” click the box next to the time slot, then click on the orange button to Volunteer. For other categories, there are subcategories for you to select from. Click on the box next to the task that you want.
Near Downtown Charlottesville

Bread Across Borders is an all-volunteers organization that started in 2020 during the lockdown with the delivery model - of distributing bread to different families. It has grown to include produce, eggs, meats, etc. We take the boxes directly to families and they take the food and distribute the items within their own communities.

Charlottesville City Schools

Volunteers needed for Harvest of the Month program! Harvest of the Month aims to build capacity, health and food security through exposure to fresh, healthy, and locally sourced foods. Volunteers pick up produce from Charlottesville High School and deliver them to selected Charlottesville City Schools and serve them to students during their lunch period. This month will feature brussel sprouts!

USQ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that advances the sport of Quadball (Previously known as Quidditch) by organizing events and programs that build community and empower adult and youth athletes of all identities, including all races and genders, to compete together. USQ's National 2025 Cup will be held Sat, Apr 26 through Sun, Apr 27 at River City Sportsplex in Richmond, VA and we are looking for volunteers to help with the following:

Mentor Preschool to High School Students - Online or In-Person
Gift a student an hour of your time by working with children who need extra support, emotionally or academically.

Give back to the community by getting involved with Early Visions! This mentorship and arts program by the Fralin Museum of Art at UVA and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia connects University student mentors and local 3rd–5th graders for weekly art experiences. Mentors and mentees learn about and from one another while making art together! Applications due Nov. 10; decisions made Dec. 15.
