Bread Across Borders is a volunteer nonprofit group that collects surplus food from small stores and farms and distributes to the working class communities of Charlottesville – mainly to immigrant communities (Middle Eastern, African, Latin American) but also to low income White and African American communities, seniors, and those with disabilities.
Bread Across Borders started in 2020 during the lockdown with the delivery model – distributing fresh food to different families. We take the boxes directly to families.
We need help sorting food (fruit and vegetables) into boxes on Sundays from noon to 1:30 pm. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
