Buzz By Belmont 5K Fun Run and Fitness event is Summit Elementary's (formerly Clark Elementary) Fall fundraising event. The Buzz By Belmont has been part of the school and community culture for over 20 years. Come volunteer for a couple of hours on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, and enjoy a fall morning in the Belmont neighborhood while supporting Charlottesville City Schools as we raise money for teacher appreciation gifts and our annual multi-cultural Soul Feast school-wide dinner event!
We are seeking volunteers to participate in the Charlottesville Random Hacks of Kindness event at the Albemarle Campus Club of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central VA on January 26, 2024. Funding and organization of this event has been made possible by the UVA/Buford lab school planning grant. We hope this will become an annual lab school event where we share the power of student-driven learning and computing to solve real-world problems with middle school students, industry experience and local nonprofits throughout the region.
The Greeters program welcomes the incoming first-year class each year as they arrive on Grounds.
Greeters volunteers are responsible for helping students move into their on-Grounds housing during move-in days each August. This involves transporting boxes, fans, mini-fridges, luggage, and whatever else students may bring with them, generally being available, welcoming, friendly, and ready to assist families as they move their students into their new homes.
Middle Eastern North African Mentoring Program is a Multicultural Student Services program that aims to build MENA community on Grounds. We are looking for mentors (second-, third-, and fourth-year students) to advise mentee groups (first-years and transfer students) within the MENA community. Please apply by Oct. 27. We are looking for dog lovers to help support our guide dog puppies during their puppy training period (puppies range from 2 months to 16 months old). Our main needs are sitters (short term care providers for various pups) and raisers (main caretaker/trainer/socializer for one pup for your preferred time period ranging from 2-14 months) but we also need volunteers to be "class helpers", socialize pups on campus, help with social media, organize tabling opportunities, and more. No dog experience required!

Will you be in Charlottesville this summer? Support refugee women and their children by joining Cville Tulips, a collective of refugee women in the Charlottesville area who gather for community building, English language learning, health-care learning, arts, youth programing, food and conversation. Volunteers participate in youth programming (soccer, outdoor play, and art projects). Limited paid English learning circle leader positions remain!
