The student organizations listed here are involved in service through local, national, and international community service activities, fundraising, and activism. Students self-select the public service category through the student organization registration process, and staff assign this category to administrative organizations.
FACE AIDS
FACE AIDS is a student campaign to fight AIDS in Africa. We organize fundraising and awareness campaigns on Grounds and throughout the Charlottesville community centered on the distribution of beaded AIDS awareness pins. The purpose of the organization is to present to the University of Virginia and the Greater Charlottesville Community an organization that works to connect artistic interests with community service. Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children
Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children FIMRC is dedicated to fundraising for est. and developing pediatric hospitals and clinic that are in need of financial assistance. Our projects serve to donate financial resources for purchasing med. equipment and for the construction of facilities where medical care can be delivered.
Freedom of Expression Watch
The organization's purpose is to create public awareness regarding the current suppression of freedom of expression and journalist prosecution in any form or manner around the world. The organization aims to expose ill treatment, abuse, threat or bribery directed to the manipulation and control of venues of expression of speech.
Future Civic Leaders
FCL is a nationwide organization, and this year will be the initiation of the college chapter here at UVA. This organization focuses on engaging youth in civic and political leadership. The chapter at UVA will be assisting high school chapters in the area with being involved in their community, and help them build leadership skills.
