Adaptive and Senior Recreation Program Volunteer

Volunteers Needed graphic

Do you enjoy recreational activities such as arts and crafts, bowling, swimming, hiking and more? Come join our team as a volunteer and work with our adaptive or senior recreation programs!

Volunteers need little to no experience, although experience with individuals with disabilities in preferred. The program schedule changes three times throughout the year (winter, summer, fall), which gives volunteers the flexibility to change their availability accordingly. Our programs are both virtual and in-person which allows more flexibility as well. Our only request is that volunteers have at least 1 or 2 programs that they can attend on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for regularly scheduled programs.

Some of our weekly/bi-weekly programs include: water aerobics, body flow, fitness (virtual and in-person), book club (virtual and in-person), cooking (virtual), supper club, social club (virtual), game night, art and craft classes and more. In addition to weekly programs, there are also special events where volunteers can dedicate their time such as outdoor adventures, dances, and day trips.

Programs are offered Monday-Friday with some special events on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you are specifically interested in serving youth with disabilities, Charlottesville Parks & Recreation also offers several summer camps for this population.
