Logo Design Contest

Learning in Action is the hub for public service at the University of Virginia, including volunteer and community engagement opportunities, service events, courses, and other resources. We need a new logo! Students are invited to submit logo designs that visually represent the core values of public service and community engagement at the University. Here are the details:

Submissions

Submissions are due Thursday, April 6, 2017, at 5 p.m.

Prize

The winner will receive a $50 gift card to the Bookstore, promotional items featuring the new logo, and a spotlight in the Learning in Action newsletter.

Rules

  1. Contest is open to current students, faculty, or staff at the University of Virginia.
  2. Be creative! Any logo ideas are welcome. Designers should keep in mind that the strongest logo will look great in full color, one-color, and across various promotional items, such as pens and T-shirts.
  3. Logo designs are not required to incorporate University of Virginia institutional branding, e.g., the Rotunda. However, if UVA branding is incorporated, the design must adhere to institutional guidelines regarding its use. The Rotunda logo can not be altered, redrawn, or have additional words or graphic elements added to it. If you have any questions about UVA branding, please email brandguidelines@virginia.edu.
  4. Please submit a low resolution image for judging. Winners will be required to supply the original or high resolution art file, if applicable, and will work with a University Bookstore graphic designer to finalize in mid to late April 2017.

Judging

Submissions will be judged by a committee comprised of Student Affairs staff and student representatives from public service organizations. Designs will be assessed by their ability to reflect the purpose and mission of Learning in Action, the core value of promoting the public good, and the University's collaborative engagement with the Charlottesville community and beyond.
